Mature caliper trees installation in Edmonton commercial project

Tree & Shrub Planting Edmonton

Professional Tree, Shrub & Perennial Installation

The right plants in the right spots completely change how a yard looks and feels. We handle everything from selecting species that actually survive Edmonton's climate to sourcing healthy stock, proper planting, and making sure everything is set up to establish strong roots.

Whether you need a single feature tree, a full property planting to meet City of Edmonton requirements, or a complete garden bed design with shrubs, perennials, and grasses — we've got it covered.

What We Plant

Trees — Deciduous & Evergreen

We carry everything from small potted trees to large caliper specimens — all depending on your budget and the impact you're looking for. A large caliper tree gives you instant presence and shade. A smaller potted tree is a cost-effective option that fills in over a few seasons. Either way, we source only prairie-hardy species proven to handle Edmonton's Zone 3–4 climate.

Popular deciduous trees we install:

  • Brandon Elm

  • Schubert Chokecherry

  • Ivory Silk Lilac

  • Parkland Pillar Birch

  • Northern Treasure Ash

  • Ornamental Crabapples (multiple varieties)

  • Amur Cherry

  • Dropmore Linden

Popular evergreen trees we install:

  • Colorado Blue Spruce

  • White Spruce

  • Mugo Pine

  • Douglas Fir

  • Scotch Pine

Shrubs & Hedging

Shrubs add structure, colour, and screening to any landscape. We install everything from compact foundation plantings to full hedge rows for privacy. All stock is selected for hardiness, disease resistance, and year-round visual interest.

Popular shrubs we install:

  • Dogwood (Red Twig, Ivory Halo, Arctic Fire)

  • Lilac (multiple varieties)

  • Ninebark (Diablo, Amber Jubilee, Tiny Wine)

  • Hydrangea (Annabelle, Incrediball)

  • Potentilla

  • Burning Bush

  • Saskatoon Berry

  • Cedar hedging

Ornamental Grasses

Grasses add movement, texture, and year-round interest — especially in winter when they hold their form against the snow. We use hardy ornamental grasses as borders, accents, and mass plantings throughout garden beds.

Perennials & Flower Beds

Perennials come back year after year and add seasonal colour throughout the growing season. We design and plant beds with a mix of species that stagger bloom times so you've got colour from spring through fall.

Popular perennials we install:

  • Daylilies

  • Hostas

  • Black-Eyed Susan

  • Sedum (Stonecrop)

  • Karl Foerster Grass

  • Salvia

  • Blanketflower

  • Columbine

Where We Source Our Plants

We work with Alberta's largest wholesale tree farms and nurseries — growers who supply commercial developments, municipalities, and large-scale landscape projects across the province. This matters because:

  • Professionally maintained stock: Every tree and shrub is grown under professional pest management and spray programs, so what arrives on your property is healthy and disease-free

  • Prairie-grown and prairie-hardy: Our stock is grown in Alberta or BC soil and climate — hardiness ratings to meet our climate

  • Size range for any budget: From #2 to #10 potted trees and container shrubs up to 80mm+ caliper specimens and 3.5-metre evergreens — we can scale to your budget without compromising quality

  • Fresh delivery: Trees and shrubs are delivered direct from the grower/nursery on the day of install for maximum health and transplant success

City of Edmonton Planting Requirements

If you have a new build in Edmonton, the City requires a minimum amount of landscaping — and that includes trees and shrubs. This is a big part of our business and we know exactly what's needed to get you through your landscaping inspection.

Typical City of Edmonton minimum requirements include:

  • A minimum number of trees (deciduous and/or evergreen) based on lot size

  • A minimum number of shrubs

  • Sod or ground cover on all exposed soil areas

  • Completed within a set timeline from your occupancy date

We handle the full package — grading, planting, sod — so you meet all requirements in one visit. No need to coordinate multiple contractors.

Our Design & Planting Process

  • 1. Consultation & Species Selection

We assess your property's sun exposure, soil conditions, drainage, and the look you're going for. We recommend species based on what actually thrives in Edmonton — not what looks good in a catalogue from a different climate zone.

  • 2. Sourcing & Scheduling

We coordinate directly with our nursery suppliers to source the healthiest available stock in the sizes and species you've selected. Delivery is timed to match your install date.

  • 3. Proper Planting

Every tree and shrub is planted at the correct depth, with amended backfill where needed, properly staked (for larger trees), and thoroughly watered in. Root flare is set at grade — not buried — which is a common mistake that leads to long-term decline.

  • 4. Mulching & Watering Instructions

We mulch around all plantings to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature. You get clear watering instructions tailored to each species and Edmonton's seasonal conditions so your plants establish strong root systems in their first critical year.

Pair It With Your Full Landscape Build

Planting is most efficient and cost-effective when it's part of a larger landscape project. When we're already on-site doing grading, retaining walls, paving stone, irrigation, and sod, adding trees and shrubs is seamless — and you get a cohesive design where everything works together.

Need to meet City of Edmonton minimum landscaping requirements? We handle grading, planting, and sod as a complete package.

Built for Edmonton's Climate

Every plant we install is selected and planted with Edmonton's specific conditions in mind:

  • Zone 3–4 hardy: We don't install species that are borderline for our climate — everything is rated to handle our winters

  • Clay soil adapted: Edmonton's heavy clay requires species that tolerate poor drainage and soil that expands and contracts with freeze-thaw

  • Short season optimized: We time plantings for the best establishment window — typically late May through September — and select species that make the most of our growing season

  • Wind and sun exposure: Plant placement accounts for prevailing winds, south-facing sun exposure, and microclimates around your home
